#22 Avengers: Endgame

#19 Avengers: Infinity War

The nineteenth film in the Marvel movie order.

The invisible conflict between Thanos and the Avengers reaches a boiling point as the former makes his move for the Infinity Stones.

Thanos’ strategy to acquire the Infinity Stones and wipe out half the world moves into overdrive as he moves from planet to planet and overwhelms the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. A last standoff at Wakanda ends in tragedy after Thor’s brand new ax injures Thanos but does not kill him, permitting the Mad Titan to put his plan into action and turn several of Marvel’s heroes to dust. Together with his final action before agreeing to his destiny, Nick Fury sends out a distress call to Captain Marvel.

#13 Captain America: Civil War 2016

The thirteenth film in the Marvel movie order.

Tony and Captain’s conflict reaches a boiling point as the newly re-activated Winter Soldier causes chaos. This movie is extremely important as it shows that the collateral damage from the Avengers’ conflict does not go unnoticed (or in this case; unpunished).

Occasionally known as “Avengers 2.5,” many of Marvel’s superheroes need to decide on a side following superheroes are expected to enroll as superheroes below the Sokovia Accords. #9 Captain America: The Winter Soldier 2014

Sebastian Stan excels as the intimidating yet horrible Winter Soldier, the psychological lynchpin of this trilogy. Black Widow, whose characterization is differently irregular throughout the franchise, obtained her very best role so far, together with Sam Wilson being released as Steve’s much-needed emotional service –likely the only happy man in the whole film.

There is so much happening in The Winter Soldier that lovers are still assessing it years after, from the numerous visual callbacks into the very first movie, to the topics of memory loss and individuality, to the political subtext of HYDRA and S.H.I.E.L.D.. The sole drawback is the fact that it set the bar too large for Captain America: Civil War, that was fun but jelqing and did not deliver the psychological payoff fans anticipated for the Winter Soldier’s salvation arc.
